About us
Jyväskylän Poikkitieteelliset Pannarit ry is an association founded in . The purpose of the association is to maintain and support crêpe and other pastry related culture mainly amongst the students from University and University of Applied Sciences in the Jyväskylä region. Association founders are Lauri Inki, Marius Peltonen and Eetu Alanen.
The idea for association got started at ”Jyväskylän Opiskelevat Partiolaiset - JOPA ry” newcomers night where after the introductory events people moved to a campfire, of course to make pancakes. When the night got darker the brainstorming begun and the idea for a pancake association started to formulate. The logo should be a pancake with eyes and embody the idea of the Japanese “Kawaii”. The events should focus on eating pancakes because their taste is irresistible. Testing of the practicality was started by holding small pancake Friday events at Tommis' house. At that point only Tommi and the founding fathers were participating. Couple pancake Fridays were managed to be held before the idea was deemed working. Finally, the founding meeting was held on Friday , where naturally pancakes were eaten as well. The burn for founding the association was so immense that it was held on the date even when Tommi couldn't make it, he has anyway been in an important role since the beginning.
The associations logo Panu Pannari is a hybrid personification between a waffle and an American pancake. Tommi was in the end the person who managed to translate the thought to the paper and the idea discussed at the campfire became reality. After small adjustments it was finalized, and it could be taken into use with great pleasure. The art piece didn't have a name as it was being worked on, but this was solved when Eetu greeted Panu like an old friend when seeing it for the first time. And thus, the logo had a name which is also memorable.
Did you know that Jyväskylän Poikkitieteelliset Pannarit ry doesn't contrarily to its name limit itself to just pancakes but embraces all crêpes and pastries! While coming up with the rules we didn't want to limit ourselves but keep the options open.
